Price Busters & Ross now open at Kapolei Commons
Shoppers turn out for grand openings
Two more retailers opened in early October at Kapolei Commons to better than expected opening day crowds -- Price Busters, the Hawaii-owned discount party and home decor store, and Ross Dress for Less, the brand name discount clothing and accessories store. In addition to boosting residents' shopping choices, the two stores will add about 130 new jobs to Kapolei. At full build out, Kapolei Commons is expected to account for 1,750 jobs in the region.
Price Busters is Kapolei's Party Central
Just in time for the holidays, Price Busters brings party supplies that cover every possible occasion, home decor to spruce up the hale, the largest selection of candy and snacks on the island, and even toys for the kids. Beth Tom, the company's president and founder, was enthusiastic about coming to Kapolei Commons, as customers at the other Oahu stores had been lobbying for a Price Busters in Kapolei.
"I know they meant it as our opening day crowd was way beyond my wildest dreams!" Tom said, adding that they were stocking up a "massive" selection of Christmas merchandise at great prices. So far, the store has 55 employees with plans to hire more for the season.
Ross Brings Name Brand Fashions
As any Ross shopper knows, Ross Dress for Less is the place to find bargains on name brand fashion and home accessories. Opening day at Kapolei Commons saw shoppers lined up all the way down to Target.
The company came to Kapolei to reach an untapped customer base, and opening day was good indication that they're on the right track. "The number of grand opening shoppers exceeded our expectations," District Manager Don Hettrick said. "It was a remarkable event." Ross will eventually employ about 75 associates.
